The Most Beautiful Places in The US - Yosemite, California

Hailed as one of the world’s most dramatic geological sights, Yosemite National Park has astounded travellers for centuries. While it’s a stunning place to get an Instagram-worthy snap, it’s also a great source of some pretty staggering statistics.

(P.S. If you want to show off the best Instagram shots, you should uplevel your Stories. Check out this Instagram story maker to wow your followers!)

The park is roughly 3000km squared (that’s around 750,000 acres!), which, when put into context, is around the same size as the US state of Rhode Island. It also hosts over 2000 lakes and ponds teeming with life. Yosemite is also home to some of the greatest hiking routes in the world, with guided hikes and walks available pretty much all year round.

Getting to this beautiful park is a breeze, with guided tours and experiences aplenty. Not only that, but you will also have the chance to set up camp there for the night to really get a true feel of the outdoor lifestyle. So pack up your tent, boots and some dry shampoo!

The Most Beautiful Places in The US - The Grand Canyon, Arizona

The Grand Canyon really needs no introduction. You’ve likely seen it on TV, on postcards, t-shirts; you name it.

With over 5 million visitors per year, The Grand Canyon sits atop the list of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Measuring a whopping 1904 square miles, and with sheer drops of up to a mile deep, it truly is a sight to behold, with many who visit becoming overwhelmed by emotion at the sight of it.

It’s not just a big hole in the ground, though. It’s estimated that there are over 1000 man-made caves tucked away inside the canyon, some of which are thousands of years old. The canyon itself was carved over millions of years by erosion caused by, amongst other factors, the Colorado River. The oldest human artifacts found in the canyon are said to be over 12,000 years old, as natives inhabited the site at the time due to the roaring river in which they could fish, bathe and travel.

There are a vast array of activities and experiences to enjoy, among them are white water rafting in the river, guided hikes and walks, and the world famous Canyon Skywalk which is certainly not for the faint-hearted!

The Most Beautiful Places in The US - Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada

This stunning 2 million year old lake on the border of California and Nevada is the definition of picture perfect. With a surface area of almost 200 square miles, and 72 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of spots to set up camp and take it all in.

If you’re planning a summer visit, you’ll be able to soak up the sun and relax on the golden shores without a care in the world. It would only take a quick Google search to find yourself a beautiful AirBnB on the lake if camping isn’t your style.

The lake is also surrounded by bike trails, for those of you who indulge in a little two-wheeled adrenaline chasing. A little more relaxing are the boat trips available around the lake, where you can hire a boat for the day with your friends and family.

If you’re more the cold weather type, fear not. During the winter, the granite peaks surrounding the lake snow over creating a wonderland for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy, all within view of the stunning lake itself.

The Most Beautiful Places in The US - Alaska

Alaska is home to some of the most beautiful scenery, mountain ranges and wildlife on earth. Of the 20 highest mountain peaks in the US, 17 are in Alaska, making this a winter-sports paradise, if that’s what you love. If not, no problem! The natural wonders of this incredible state are in the hundreds, and some are still being uncovered to this day, with stunning glaciers and even a view to the Northern Lights just to name a few.

With over 3000 lakes and 3 million rivers in Alaska, if boating, fishing and a nice cold swim are your thing, you’re very much in luck! Along these rivers and lakes, though, you’ll likely come across a few creatures that aren’t to be trifled with, as the number of bears in the state are around 1 for every 21 humans, so keep your wits about you at all times.

Along with the beautiful mountain ranges comes something a little more exciting, volcanoes; of which there are over 100. Guided tours, hikes and camping expeditions are available in and around the areas in which the volcanoes are located, so be sure to do your homework if you’re looking for something a little outdoorsy and exciting.

The Most Beautiful Places in The US - Kauai, Hawaii

Kauai is the real-life definition of paradise. Often referred to as the ‘Garden Island’ because of its beautiful tropical flora, rough mountain terrain and white sandy beaches, Kauai is said to be the oldest Hawaiian island, dating back over 5 million years! The lush rainforest areas are surrounded by huge mountains, which has enabled the state to keep out developers in order for this island to remain a natural beauty.

Some of pop culture’s favourite movies and TV shows were filmed here, including Baywatch and the Jurassic Park franchise. This interest in the island gives the friendly locals a regular income due to the tourism industry that is constantly growing there.

As a result of this, there is certainly no shortage of things to do and places to see in Kauai, with guided waterfall tours, surfing lessons and traditional Hawaiian cooking classes to name a few.
