Shopping Hotspots in Italy

Italy is the undisputed capital of all things style, swagger and shopping. It’s also the capital of one of the oldest languages in human history… Latin! The language originated around 700 BC and was adopted by the Roman Empire for years to come. Latin eventually fell by the wayside around the 6th century, and was gradually replaced by the modern Italian language we know today; a language you can learn in no-time using the Idyoma App!

When visiting Italy in 2021 (hopefully!), you’re likely there to do one of two things.

  1. Catch a real-life glimpse of the stunning architecture, art and relics of centuries passed

  2. Shop ‘til you drop!

Me? I’m gonna tell you about the 4 best shopping hotspots in Italy!

Shopping Hotspots in Italy

  1. Via Del Corso - Rome

  2. Via Monte Napoleone - Milan

  3. Mercerie - Venice

  4. Via Toledo - Naples

Via Del Corso, one of the Best Shopping Hotspots in Italy

Via Del Corso is the best shopping hotspot in Rome, with the narrow streets littered with local boutiques and shopping outlets stocking major international brands. There’s even some authentic Roman eateries dotted around, so finding a bite to eat is easy. You’ll be able to find a souvenir for just about anyone, too.

A useful tip would be to practice your bartering skills using a language learning app on your plane journey to Italy, as the locals love a bit of back-and-forth when negotiating their wares. They're such a friendly and patient bunch, so don’t worry if your Italian isn’t quite fluent yet.

Embrace Your Glamorous Side in Via Monte Napoleone, one of the Famous Shopping Hotspots in Italy

I couldn’t make this list without a trip to Milan. The city known all around the world for its presence in the fashion world, along with the luxury 5-star hotels and restaurants.

There really is only one thing to do when in Milan, and that’s shop. Shop til you drop.

Via Monte Napoleone is home to some of the finest brands in the world, including Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Giorgio Armani. Whatever it is you’re looking for, you’ll definitely find it here. There’s no doubt you’ll leave this most upmarket of upmarket shopping hotspots feeling like a fashion icon. Just be sure to keep your receipts!

Get Quirky in Mercerie

After you’ve been on a breathtaking gondola ride around the city of Venice, where better to see out the day than with a shopping trip to Le Mercerie in the district of San Marco.

This experience is completely different from anything you’ll find in the luxurious likes of Milan or Rome. Venice is the perfect place to find a quirky, kitsch souvenir to cherish from your trip. I came home from Italy with an extra suitcase, full of hand-made jewellery and masks that I bartered for in Mercerie.

A Romantic Evening in Via Toledo

When you think of a romantic, low-key Italian shopping hotspot and vacation haunt, you immediately think of Rome, Venice… right?

Wrong. I whole-heartedly believe Via Toledo in Naples is the most romantic, understated shopping and vacation spot. It’s a busy street that never sleeps, and there’s a constant warmth and buzz that you’ll just fall in love with. It’s the perfect place for a days’ shopping, with a mixture of high-end chain stores and local outlets lining the street as far as the eye can see.

Just a few streets over, you’ll find some of the most staggering monuments and architecture, making Via Toledo an ideal retreat for couples who want to take it all in.
